Fisheries Iceland (SFS) was established on 31 October 2014 when the Federation of Icelandic Fishing Vessel Owners and the Federation of Icelandic Fish Processing Plants merged. The association's goal is to safeguard the interests of the fisheries sector, including companies in aquaculture. The current chairman of Fisheries Iceland, elected at the Annual General Meeting in May 2020, is Ólafur Helgi Marteinsson, CEO of Rammi hf. in Siglufjörður. The association's CEO is Heiðrún Lind Marteinsdóttir who has held the position since August 2016.
